13 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Cupola and campanile
On a church, fine details on a cupola or bell tower are the first to blur at small sizes. Print friendly strengthens them; Full detail with a larger print size keeps more.
- One piece with the ground
Sant'Andrea delle Fratte is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Sant'Andrea delle Fratte takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Sant'Andrea delle Fratte
Sant'Andrea delle Fratte is a basilica church in Rome, Italy, built in the 17th century and dedicated to St. Andrew; the name means Saint Andrew of the Thickets. It stands on the site of an earlier church erected in 1192 and known as infra hortes, "amidst the orchards", from its position in the countryside on the northern edge of medieval Rome. Augustinian nuns first owned it, and in 1585 Pope Sixtus V gave it to Saint Francis of Paola's Minim friars. In 1942 Pope Pius XII raised it to the rank of minor basilica.
Construction of the new church began in 1604 to a design by Gaspare Guerra. The project was halted eight years later and revived in 1653 under Francesco Borromini, credited with the apse, the cupola's tholobate and a square campanile of four orders. After his death, Mattia De Rossi continued the work. Its façade, in a late Renaissance style, has two orders split by pilasters and was finished in 1826, paid for by the will of Cardinal Ercole Consalvi.
Inside, the nave is single, flanked by three chapels per side. Two angels by Bernini flank the presbytery: one with the Crown of Thorns, one with the Superscription. They were first meant for the Ponte Sant'Angelo, yet Pope Clement IX thought them too valuable to leave out in the weather, so copies went on the bridge and the originals moved here. Maximilian Kolbe's first Mass as a priest took place in the Bartolini Chapel in 1918.
