  1. A broad church block

A basilica of this kind prints as a broad block whose roof and walls carry almost all the surface. A larger print and layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the long faces even.

  2. One piece with the ground

The Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri takes the building color.

  5. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri

Santa Maria degli Angeli is the Italian name of a Catholic titular minor basilica in Rome that was once a Carthusian conventual church. It fills the ruined frigidarium and tepidarium of Diocletian's baths and stands on the Piazza della Repubblica. The church dates from the 16th century, when it was built to an original design by Michelangelo, and later architects and artists kept adding to it over the centuries.

Emperor Maximian ordered the baths in 297 AD, and they were finished in 306 AD; Christian slaves are thought to have done the work, using the finest materials the Empire could supply, granite monoliths from Egypt among them. The baths served until 537, when the fall of Rome brought the destruction of the Aqua Marcia, the aqueduct that fed them. Ruin followed, and the site was quarried for its expensive stone, which went into other buildings.

Michelangelo adapted part of the surviving structure between 1563 and 1564 and raised the floor to the street level of the 16th century, which cut short the red granite Roman columns of the transept. After he died in 1564 his pupil Jacopo Del Duca continued the work. The vaulted transept runs 90.8 meters long, and in the eighteenth century the astronomer Francesco Bianchini laid a meridian line 45 meters long inside the church.
