7 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- The front on the street
The church stands in a built-up row facing via XX Settembre, so the front and the wall along the street carry most of the model. Printing slowly lets those long flat faces cool evenly.
- Size for the front
At the default size the model's front is small against its neighbors. A larger print, or Full detail with a fine nozzle, keeps the front distinct, and 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers keep its edges crisp.
- One piece with the ground
Santa Maria della Vittoria, Rome is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Santa Maria della Vittoria, Rome takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Santa Maria della Vittoria, Rome
Santa Maria della Vittoria is a minor basilica and titular church of the Catholic Church, run by the Discalced Carmelites as their conventual church and dedicated to Our Lady of Victories. It stands in the Rione Sallustiano, at number 98 via XX Settembre, where the street meets Largo Santa Susanna; the Fountain of Moses stands beside it, and the Church of Santa Susanna faces it from the other side of the largo. It is known for housing Gian Lorenzo Bernini's Ecstasy of Saint Teresa.
The land was bought on April 20, 1607; building ran from 1608 to 1620, starting as a chapel for the Discalced Carmelites dedicated to Saint Paul. After Catholic forces won at White Mountain in 1620 it was rededicated to the Virgin Mary, and the church also came to display Ottoman standards taken at the 1683 Battle of Vienna. Early Baroque architect Carlo Maderno designed and completed the whole structure, the only building for which he did so entirely, though a fire in 1833 meant the interior needed restoring.
The facade was put up by Giovanni Battista Soria between 1624 and 1626 and echoes Maderno's nearby Santa Susanna. Inside, the Cornaro Chapel, commissioned by Federico Cornaro, holds the altarpiece of the Ecstasy of St. Teresa, considered among the most celebrated works of Baroque sculpture, with the whole architectural and sculptural ensemble designed by Bernini. The vault was frescoed in 1675 by Giovanni Domenico Cerrini, on the theme of the Virgin Mary's triumph over heresy and the fall of the rebel angels.
