About the Showcase Mall
In Paradise, Nevada, on the Las Vegas Strip, Showcase Mall is a shopping center best known for its landmark facade, which has a Coca-Cola bottle 100 feet (30 m) tall and a giant bag of M&M's. The mall opened in phases, beginning in 1996, on a site next to the MGM Grand hotel and casino.
Plans for the MGM Grand were announced in 1989, and attorney Bob Unger saw the investment potential in an adjacent property. With banker Barry Fieldman he formed Makena Development Corp. in 1992 and bought Island Plaza, a small shopping center that became the southern part of the mall. The mall's first business was the Official All Star Cafe, which began operating on December 15, 1996. A United Artists theater with eight screens followed in March 1997. Island Plaza came down in 1999 for the second phase, which opened in 2000 with a gift shop whose interior was styled after the Grand Canyon.
The third phase, completed in 2009, added 97,400 square feet, with Hard Rock Cafe and Ross Dress For Less as anchor tenants. In 2003, Westgate Resorts proposed a tower of 54 stories holding over 700 timeshare units on the neighboring Denny's site. The plan shrank to 42 stories after strong opposition from MGM Grand but was finally turned down by the Clark County Commission.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 9 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 11 mm | 1:3,000 |

- A bottle-shaped tower
- The facade includes a tall bottle shape with a narrow neck. Printing slowly and using layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm helps keep it intact, and a larger print keeps more of its detail.
- Fine signs on the facade
- Small signs and lettering cover the front wall, and many small boxes dot the roofs. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits a fine nozzle.
- One piece with the ground
- The Showcase Mall is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Showcase Mall takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
The Showcase Mall is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Showcase Mall STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. The Showcase Mall grows with the print: about 9 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
