7 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Bell tower and cross
A small bell tower with a pyramid roof and a cross rises at the front. Print friendly adapts thin parts to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print.
- Rows of tall arched windows
Narrow arched windows line the long wall. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm and a bigger print size keep them crisp.
- One piece with the ground
St. Joseph of the Holy Family Church is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. St. Joseph of the Holy Family Church takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About St. Joseph of the Holy Family Church
The Archdiocese of New York includes this Black Catholic parish, St. Joseph of the Holy Family, in Harlem, Manhattan, at 401 West 125th Street and Morningside Avenue. No older church survives in Harlem, or anywhere in Manhattan above 44th Street. The city designated it a landmark on June 28, 2016.
The parish began in 1859 or 1860 and served German Catholics. Fr D. F. Hartmann was sent by the archdiocese in 1859 to the German-speaking Catholics of Manhattanville, and services were held at first in the chapel at the Academy of the Sacred Heart. The church was finished and dedicated in 1860 in red brick; it has rounded arched windows and just one bell tower.
The city Landmarks Preservation Commission reads the design as Rundbogenstil, an abstracted, simplified take on Romanesque forms rather than a revival of them. That German look reflects what the first parishioners brought with them, and it fits the rural setting the area had when the church was built. The church grew in 1871, and in 1889 the Herter Brothers altered it, turning the window above the entrance into a niche that holds a statue of St. Joseph with the infant.
