4 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Very small building
This is a small building, so its small details are tiny. A larger print size keeps more of them, and a layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keeps edges crisp. Print friendly adapts thin parts to your print scale.
- One piece with the ground
Strecker Memorial Laboratory is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Strecker Memorial Laboratory takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Strecker Memorial Laboratory
At Southpoint Park on Roosevelt Island stands Strecker Memorial Laboratory, built in 1892 as the laboratory for City Hospital. It was described as the country's first institution devoted to pathological and bacteriological research. The Strecker family funded the project. Its architects, Walter Dickson and Frederick Clarke Withers, gave it Romanesque Revival styling and large arched windows to let in natural light and ventilation.
The first floor held an autopsy room and an office, with laboratories upstairs where specimens were examined, and the cellar served as a mortuary and for storage. Later, an additional story gave room for a pathology museum, a scientific library and the examination of histological samples. In 1907 the lab's running passed to the Russell Sage Institute of Pathology, which later became associated with Rockefeller University, and work continued until the lab closed in the 1950s.
The National Register of Historic Places listed it in 1972, and New York City designated it a landmark in 1976. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority bought it in the late 1990s for a power conversion substation serving subway trains in the 53rd Street Tunnel under Roosevelt Island. The MTA restored the exterior, and the substation has operated since 2000.
About this model
Strecker Memorial Laboratory is one of more than 4,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
