About The Venetian Las Vegas

The Venetian Las Vegas, a luxury resort with a hotel and a casino, is located in Paradise, Nevada, along the Las Vegas Strip. Sheldon Adelson, a businessman, developed it through his company, Las Vegas Sands. It stands where the Sands Hotel and Casino once did; that older resort shut down and was torn down in 1996. Construction started in April 1997, and the Venetian opened its doors on May 4, 1999, though some amenities were unfinished and work went on through the end of the year. The designers were Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo and Stubbins Associates.

Venice is the theme of the resort, which features copies of many of that city's landmarks and a canal that offers gondola rides. The casino measures 120,000 sq ft (11,000 m²). At opening, a 35-story tower held 3,036 suites; a second, 12-story tower named the Venezia was finished in 2003 and lifted the total to 4,049 rooms. North of the Venetian, a sister property called the Palazzo, with a hotel and casino of its own, opened in 2007.

Adelson felt that convention-goers were underserved in Las Vegas, and the resort was built with them in particular in mind. It has its own meeting space and neighbors the Venetian Expo. Also on the property are the Grand Canal Shoppes. The Guggenheim Hermitage Museum was housed there from 2001 to 2008. Its performance venues have hosted entertainment including the Blue Man Group, from 2005 to 2012. The final price of construction was $1.5 billion.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 800 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 30 mm 1:5,000
200 mm 38 mm 1:4,000
256 mm 49 mm 1:3,125

Fine ribs on the tower walls
The tall wings carry narrow vertical ribs. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print, ideally with 0.12–0.16 mm layers.
Flat roofs on the low wings
The low wings around the base have flat roofs with small details on top. A larger print size keeps more of them crisp.
One piece with the ground
The Venetian Las Vegas is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Venetian Las Vegas takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. The Venetian Las Vegas grows with the print: about 30 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
