Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Chimney, porch and shingles

The roof carries a small chimney and fine shingle texture, and the wing has a porch with thin pillars. Print friendly adapts these to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, best at a larger size with 0.12–0.16 mm layers.

  2. One piece with the ground

The Thomas Paine Cottage is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Thomas Paine Cottage takes the building color.

  5. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Thomas Paine Cottage

From 1802 to 1806 this cottage in New Rochelle, New York, was home to Thomas Paine, author of Common Sense; he is remembered as a Founding Father and Revolutionary War hero. The State of New York gave him the farm on which it stood in 1784, as recognition for his services to Independence. He wrote his last pamphlet here in August 1805, directed at the people of Philadelphia on the topic of "Constitutional Reform." After his death in 1809 he lay buried near the cottage until 1819, when his body was disinterred.

The cottage is a saltbox with two stories and a wood frame. It began as a simple building 4.9 m (16 ft) wide and 9.4 m (31 ft) deep, and in 1804 a wing with a porch, measuring 5.5 by 7.0 m (18 by 23 ft), was added. The wing's door and porch pillars are in the Greek Revival style and date to about 1830. Inside, the main house has a kitchen at the front, a common room in the middle and a bedroom at the back, while the wing holds the parlor and the upper floor has four bedrooms.

A historical association has run the cottage as a museum since 1910. On Christmas Eve in 1805, someone fired a gun into the rear room, known as the "Paine Room," in an attempt to kill Paine. That room also holds a stove given to Paine by Benjamin Franklin, among the few genuine Franklin stoves that survive. A restoration in 2009 replaced an asphalt roof with wood shingles.
