15 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Pointed gables on the wings
The top of the building ends in several small pointed gables over the wings. Print friendly adapts small peaks like these to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print.
- A tall block among skyscrapers
Taller neighbors crowd the building, so a bigger print size and a layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm help keep its facade readable.
- One piece with the ground
The Times Square Hotel is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Times Square Hotel takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Times Square Hotel
A former hotel that is now an apartment building, the Times Square Hotel stands at 255 West 43rd Street, at its meeting with Eighth Avenue, in Midtown Manhattan's Theater District near Times Square. The 15-story building was completed in 1923 in the Renaissance Revival style, to designs by the firm Gronenberg & Leuchtag, whose only known hotel it is.
Henry Claman developed the structure. He had planned a movie theater on the site before deciding to build a hotel for single men. The Claman Hotel, as it was first called, was finished in April 1923. Manger Hotels bought it less than a year later and renamed it the Times Square Hotel.
White limestone clads the first two stories, while the stories above are tan brick with terracotta decoration. Three light courts on the south facade divide the building into four wings. When built it had 875 bedrooms; since the 1990s it has had 652 units of supportive housing. In 1991, Common Ground took ownership and spent the next three years renovating.
