Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Cupola on the central dome

A small cupola crowns the octagonal center. Print friendly adapts thin, small parts like this to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print. Printing slowly helps small tips.

  2. Four roofs and a chimney

Hipped roofs, rows of windows and a slim chimney surround the dome. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm and a bigger print size keep them crisp.

  3. One piece with the ground

The United States Post Office, Oyster Bay is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The United States Post Office, Oyster Bay takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the United States Post Office, Oyster Bay

The Oyster Bay Post Office, in the New York town of Oyster Bay, dates from 1936. William Bottomley, an architect from New York, designed it in the Colonial Revival style so that it echoes the town hall opposite. Listed by the National Register of Historic Places, it is also a stop on the Oyster Bay History Walk.

Ernest Peixotto, a prominent artist, illustrator and author from America, painted five murals inside, showing scenes of Oyster Bay from 1653 to 1936. His assistant Arthur Sturges painted the vaulted ceiling, where women representing different countries send mail on ships and planes, and a figure of Mercury, the winged messenger, tops the dome. It was made as part of the Treasury Relief Art Project.

The Italian sculptor Leo Lentelli made terracotta panels over the interior doorways, showing the continents symbolized by animals. Dates on two panels refer to Theodore Roosevelt's life and to the year he returned to Oyster Bay as President. Lentelli also sculpted a bust of Roosevelt and carved the stone flagpole base outside, with seahorses, dolphins and shells.
