Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- A small building in a big neighborhood
The settlement building is a small part of a very large, dense area in the model, and it is hard to pick out. A larger print size or Full detail helps its facade read.
- One piece with the ground
The University Settlement Society of New York is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The University Settlement Society of New York takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the University Settlement Society of New York
University Settlement Society of New York offers education and social services for immigrants and for low-income families. Its home is at 184 Eldridge Street, on the corner with Rivington Street, in Manhattan's Lower East Side. Founded in 1886, it was the nation's first settlement house, and its work has long served the neighborhood's mostly immigrant population.
Stanton Coit, Charles B. Stover and Charles B. Spahr started the settlement in 1886, calling it The Neighborhood Guild; it began in a Forsyth Street basement. Like similar houses, it ran courses for newcomers, on subjects ranging from politics and English to basketball, and it also had a library, a kindergarten and the first public baths. Such settlements were also centers of Progressive Era reform.
Its early resident workers were all male and recent college graduates, and several of them wrote about housing and jobs on the Lower East Side. Residents between 1900 and 1907 included the socialist writer William English Walling, the Pulitzer Prize winner Ernest Poole and the journalist Hamilton Holt. President Franklin D. Roosevelt called the settlement a landmark in the nation's social history.
