3 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Dormers and chimneys
The roof carries several small dormers and tall chimneys. Print friendly adapts these small details to the print scale; Full detail keeps all of them, which works best on a larger print.
- Porch steps and railings
The entrance porches have fine steps and railings. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm and a bigger print size keep these crisp.
- One piece with the ground
The Van Cortlandt House is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Van Cortlandt House takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Van Cortlandt House
The Van Cortlandt House, also called the Van Cortlandt Mansion, is, as far as is known, the oldest house still standing in the Bronx. It sits in the southwest of Van Cortlandt Park and is run as a historic house museum. Frederick Van Cortlandt began construction in 1748 but did not live to see the house finished in 1749, and his son James inherited it.
The house is Georgian in style, 2½ stories tall, with a rubblestone facade and Georgian interiors. The original building is L-shaped, its two wings extending south and east, and a caretaker's house on the north side is joined to it. The facade is largely plain, apart from brick keystones that depict the faces of Van Cortlandt family members.
Members of one Van Cortlandt family branch lived there for 140 years before it opened as a museum in 1897. British and American troops each occupied the house at times during the American Revolutionary War. The city took ownership in 1888, as Van Cortlandt Park was being built, and first used it as a police barracks. New York City has designated both the facade and the interior as landmarks, and the building is also a National Historic Landmark.
