35 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Stepped upper stories
The upper stories recede in setbacks, and a layer height of 0.12-0.16 mm keeps each step crisp. In the renders the tower is partly hidden by taller neighbors, so a larger print keeps the steps readable.
- One piece with the ground
116 John Street is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 116 John Street takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About 116 John Street
116 John Street is an office tower in New York City's Financial District, on the southwest corner where John Street meets Pearl Street, in Lower Manhattan. It went up in 1931 as a speculative project aimed at insurance companies, and it stands 35 stories tall. Its walls are brick and terra cotta.
The tower has a base of three stories, a shaft of 19 stories, and 12 more stories above that step back in a series of setbacks. The architect was Louis Abramson, and Art Deco style design elements show up in the lobby and at the recessed entrances. Work to rehabilitate the interior began in 2011, and some floors had been turned into apartments by 2013. In 2014 the building was entered in the National Register of Historic Places.
