About 1540 Broadway

1540 Broadway is an office building on Times Square, in Manhattan's Theater District, in New York City. It was formerly called the Bertelsmann Building, after its anchor tenant, the German media company Bertelsmann. The architect was David Childs, of the firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM). Broadway State Partners developed it; this venture paired Bruce Eichner with VMS Development.

A low base carries the tower, which reaches 223 m (733 ft) at its spire, and a "prow" juts out from the west side. The upper stories have glass in blue and green, divided by vertical aluminum mullions. The building stands on a site bounded by Broadway on the west, 45th Street on the south and 46th Street on the north.

It replaced Loew's State Theatre, along with a number of other buildings. Construction began in 1988, and the building was finished in 1990, then sat completely empty for three years. In 1992 Bertelsmann took the building over after a bankruptcy and made it its headquarters, and it opened a few retail stores in the late 1990s.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Open spire and rooftop frame
The open spire and the frame around the roof are the finest parts of this tower. Print slowly with good cooling; Print friendly adapts them to the print scale, while Full detail keeps them at larger sizes.
One piece with the ground
1540 Broadway is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 1540 Broadway takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. 1540 Broadway grows with the print: about 60 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?
