About 35 Hudson Yards

35 Hudson Yards, also called Tower E, mixes apartments and a hotel in one skyscraper on Manhattan's West Side. It stands at West 33rd Street and 11th Avenue, and the Penn Station area, Chelsea and Hell's Kitchen are all close by. The tower is part of the Hudson Yards project, which aims to redevelop the West Side Yards of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill designed the tower, and the firm also provided the structural engineering. Construction ran from 2015 to 2019: the tower topped out in June 2018, and opening day was March 15, 2019. Its height is given as approximately 1,000 feet (300 m).

Equinox manages the hotel, which spans levels 24 through 38 and has 212 rooms, 48 of them suites. The upper 36 floors hold 135 condominiums. The first floor serves as the lobby and contains Flowers, a tapestry by the Swedish artist Helena Hernmarck. A plaza lies at the foot of the tower, which also contains medical offices.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 82 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 103 mm 1:3,000

A tall, slim tower
The tower rises far above its base and narrows toward a rounded top. Print slowly and use cooling for the upper floors; a larger print size keeps the slim shaft sturdier.
Stepped, ribbed sides
The sides step in and carry fine vertical ribs. A layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keeps them crisp.
One piece with the ground
35 Hudson Yards is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 35 Hudson Yards takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

Common questions

Is there a 35 Hudson Yards STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. 35 Hudson Yards grows with the print: about 82 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
