About the Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua

In Padua, in Veneto, Northern Italy, stands this Catholic church with the rank of minor basilica, dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua. Locals call it "il Santo", and it is among the national shrines the Holy See recognizes. Padua's cathedral is the separate Cathedral-Basilica of Saint Mary. The Cappella di San Giacomo, along with a second chapel for Blessed Luca Belludi, is part of Padua's fourteenth-century fresco cycles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Construction probably began around 1232, a year after St. Anthony died, and finished in 1310, though structural changes continued from the end of the 14th century to the middle of the 15th. In keeping with his will, the saint was buried in a small church, Santa Maria Mater Domini, near which he founded a convent in 1229. The church became part of the basilica as its Madonna Mora chapel, the Chapel of the Dark Madonna.

The basilica is a huge building lacking one precise architectural style, and St Mark's Basilica in Venice strongly influenced it. Its exterior blends elements that are mainly Romanesque and Byzantine, along with a few Gothic features. The domes were raised in height externally, which gives a Byzantine look, while the many small belfries beside them recall Turkish minarets. A Baroque Treasury chapel was built in 1691 by Filippo Parodi, a student of Bernini. The high altar is by Donatello, who also made the equestrian statue of Gattamelata outside.

Domes and slender towers
A cluster of rounded domes is ringed by tall, slender towers with pointed caps. Print friendly adapts thin towers like these to your print scale; Full detail keeps them, best printed slowly with good cooling.
Smooth curves, small belfries
The domes are smooth curved surfaces with small belfries beside them. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the curves smooth, and a larger print keeps the belfries readable.
One piece with the ground
The Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
