  1. Small church, bigger print

The church is small at the default print size. A larger print with layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keeps its edges and surface detail crisp.

  2. One piece with the ground

The Basilica of the Holy Apostles, Cologne is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

About the Basilica of the Holy Apostles, Cologne

Cologne's Basilica of the Holy Apostles is a Romanesque church close to the busy Neumarkt in the city center. It belongs to a group of twelve Romanesque churches in Cologne. The building is dedicated to the twelve Apostles and was once a collegiate foundation. Its plan pairs a nave with aisles, and three apses close the east end in a trefoil arrangement. A single tower, 67 meters tall, rises at the west.

A monastery was founded on the site in the 10th century, and its first church dedicated to the Apostles was probably a simple building. A large Salian building rose under Archbishop Heribert, ruler from 999 to 1021, or his successor Pilgrim. Large parts of the nave's outer walls survive, along with the western transept and sections of the central nave walls. Their visible outer skin was renewed several times, so only their cores date from the 11th century.
