15 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Two tall minarets
Tall minarets are thin vertical elements that cool fast and lose definition on small prints. Print larger, slow the print, and use 0.12–0.16 mm layers for the dome and shafts.
- One piece with the ground
The Cologne Central Mosque is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Cologne Central Mosque takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Cologne Central Mosque
The Cologne Central Mosque occupies the Ehrenfeld district of Cologne, in Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia. Its commissioning body was DİTİB, the Turkish-Islamic Union's German branch. Building work finished in 2017, and Turkey's president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, inaugurated it. Up to 4,000 worshippers fit inside, making it Germany's largest mosque. Before work began, the scheme attracted local opposition.
Neo-Ottoman architecture inspired the design, which is also described as German Postmodern; the design includes glass walls, a dome and two minarets. A bazaar and other secular spaces are meant to encourage interfaith contact. It counts among Europe's biggest mosques and is the largest in Germany, and the minarets' height has drawn criticism.
Gottfried Böhm and his son Paul, a specialist in church buildings, were the architects. The mosque covers 4,500 m² (48,000 sq ft) and its two minarets rise 55 m (180 ft). Shops and the entrance occupy the ground floor, lecture rooms lie below, and prayer takes place on the upper floor, which also holds a Muslim library. A central well connects the levels.
