13 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- The decagon and dome
The decagon and its dome form the main mass, so a larger print helps the gallery and dome outline read; 0.12–0.16 mm layers keep curved surfaces smooth.
- The irregular plan
An irregular plan of choir, transepts and oval core has narrow joins; Print friendly adapts them to the print scale, and Full detail suits a large print.
- One piece with the ground
St. Gereon's Basilica is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. St. Gereon's Basilica takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About St. Gereon's Basilica
St. Gereon's Basilica is a Roman Catholic church in Cologne. It is dedicated to Saint Gereon and became a minor basilica on June 25, 1920. Its core preserves an oval central structure with nine cones, Roman work from between 350 and 365. That lower part of the present decagon is one of the key examples of ancient representational architecture north of the Alps and counts among Germany's oldest surviving sacred buildings.
A church dedicated to St. Gereon here is first documented in 612. Archbishop Hildebold added a rectangular choir around 800. From 1151, the choir gallery, apse and transepts were added under Archbishop Arnold II von Wied. Between 1219 and 1227 the ancient mausoleum was strengthened and given an outer sheath, turned into a decagon, raised, and given Gothic galleries and a central dome.
Its decagon dome, late Romanesque and early Gothic, was the largest dome in the West between the 6th-century Hagia Sophia and the 15th-century Duomo of Florence. The nave lies under an oval decagon dome, 21.0 m in length and 16.9 m across, finished in 1227 on the antique central building's remains. St. Gereon belongs to Cologne's twelve great Romanesque churches.
