About Blarney Castle
Blarney Castle is a medieval stronghold in the town of Blarney, in Cork, Ireland. Earlier fortifications stood on the same spot. Its origins reach back before 1200, when a timber house is believed to have stood on the site, though no evidence of it remains, and around 1210 a stone fortification took its place. The MacCarthy of Muskerry dynasty, a junior branch of the Desmond kings, built the present keep, which dates from 1446. The Blarney Stone sits among the machicolations of the castle.
During the Irish Confederate Wars the castle was besieged, and Parliamentarian forces under Lord Broghill seized it in 1646. Donough MacCarty regained it after the Restoration and was made 1st Earl of Clancarty. In the 1690s, during the Williamite War in Ireland, the Williamites captured the 4th Earl of Clancarty (also called Donough MacCarty) and confiscated his lands, Blarney Castle among them. The castle then changed hands several times before Sir James Jeffreys, who governed Cork City, bought it in the early 18th century.
Later, the Jefferyes family built a large house close to the 15th-century keep. After a fire destroyed it, a replacement mansion, Blarney House, went up in 1874 overlooking the nearby lake, and John Lanyon designed it in Scottish baronial style. The castle itself is partly ruined, though some rooms and battlements can be visited. The Blarney Stone, also called the Stone of Eloquence, lies at the top. Tourists may kiss it by hanging upside-down over a sheer drop, and it is said to confer eloquence.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|

| 200 mm | 11 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Battlements and narrow windows
- The top of the keep has a ring of small battlements, and narrow windows run down its walls. Print friendly adapts small parts like these to your print scale; Full detail keeps them, with 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers.
- A small keep on wide grounds
- The keep is a compact tower on open green grounds, so a larger print size keeps its windows and battlements easier to read.
- One piece with the ground
- Blarney Castle is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Blarney Castle takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

Common questions
Is there a Blarney Castle STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. Blarney Castle grows with the print: about 9 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
