About Boulder Station

Boulder Station combines a hotel with a casino, on Boulder Highway in Sunrise Manor, Nevada. The site covers 27 acres (11 ha) where Lamb Boulevard meets Boulder Highway, at the northeast corner. Station Casinos selected the location in 1986, since the company saw the Las Vegas Valley's east side as underserved, and nearby Interstate 515 offered easy access. Marrnell Corrao Associates designed the resort, and Chanen Construction Company Inc. of Phoenix served as construction manager.

Ground was broken on August 5, 1993, and fireworks marked the opening on August 23, 1994. The final cost was $103 million. No new hotel-casino had opened in the eastern part of Las Vegas since 1979 until Boulder Station arrived, with 300 hotel rooms in a 15-story tower and a casino of 7,000 m2 (75,000 sq ft). The design was Victorian, with a railroad theme shared with the sister property Palace Station, and stained glass murals of 19th century trains accompanied the table games. The roadside neon sign stood as the biggest freestanding sign along Boulder Highway.

An expansion in December 1995 added a movie theater with 11 screens, a child-care facility of 740 m2 (8,000 sq ft) and a video game arcade of 300 m2 (3,200 sq ft). The Railhead concert venue has won several Academy of Country Music awards for hosting country performers. A $50 million renovation began ahead of the nearby Eastside Cannery's opening in August 2008, and the hotel's 300 rooms were renovated by October 2011.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 17 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 22 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 28 mm 1:2,344

Turrets and cupolas
Small turrets cap the hotel tower, and little cupolas dot the roofline. Print friendly adapts small parts like these to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits a larger print or a fine nozzle.
Tall tower on a wide base
The hotel tower rises from a very wide, flat-roofed casino building. Print slowly with good cooling so the tower stays straight, and use layers of 0.12–0.16 mm to keep its vertical lines crisp.
One piece with the ground
Boulder Station is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Boulder Station takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

Boulder Station is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Boulder Station STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. Boulder Station grows with the print: about 17 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
