About Cayan Tower
Cayan Tower is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, that rises 306 m (1,004 ft) over 75 stories. It was called Infinity Tower until its inauguration. Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) designed it on behalf of Cayan Real Estate Investment and Development. When it opened on June 10, 2013, it became the tallest high-rise building in the world with a 90-degree twist. The Shanghai Tower, opened in February 2015, later took that record.
Each floor turns 1.2 degrees around a cylindrical core that holds the elevators and services, which creates the twist. A dynamic analysis of how the tower would respond to wind, seismic and other dynamic loads supported the design. Titanium-colored metal panels, together with repeating staggered screens, shield the rooms from direct sunlight; the panels sit on columns of cast-in-place concrete. The apartments have reconstituted wooden floors and Chinese synthetic marble counter tops, and a five-story parking garage stands behind the tower.
On February 7, 2007, a wall holding back the Dubai Marina was breached and the tower's foundation site flooded. Work stopped for a year and a half and resumed in July 2008. Fireworks and a laser light display marked the inauguration on June 10, 2013, when the tower passed the Turning Torso as the world's tallest twisted tower. The developer explained the new name by saying there was more than one tower called Infinity and it wanted something different.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 82 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 103 mm | 1:3,000 |
| 256 mm | 132 mm | 1:2,344 |

- A twisting slender shaft
- The tower turns as it rises and is very slim for its height. A layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keeps the twist smooth, and printing slowly with good cooling helps this tall, thin shape.
- Fine fins at the crown
- Thin vertical fins stand around the top of the tower. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps every fin, which suits a larger print.
- One piece with the ground
- Cayan Tower is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Cayan Tower takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
Cayan Tower is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Cayan Tower STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. Cayan Tower grows with the print: about 82 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
