266 m of the Colonius, 71 mm on your shelf
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Slow print for a tall tower
A tall, slender tower prints best slowly, with cooling on, so the shaft stays straight. Use 0.12–0.16 mm layers to keep the narrow top crisp.
- One piece with the ground
The Colonius is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Colonius takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Colonius
The Colonius is Cologne's telecommunications tower, completed in 1981. It carries antennas for radio relay and other radio services in the VHF range, along with a cafeteria, a viewing platform and a restaurant. It is a television tower owned by Deutsche Funkturm, and it stands in the Neustadt-Nord district of the city. At completion it stood 252.9 meters tall, and a radio tower lifted into place by helicopter in 2004 brought the height to 266 meters. That addition let the tower carry digital television (DVB-T) broadcasts for the Cologne/Bonn region.
The restaurant closed in 1994 for lack of a leaseholder, and the viewing area closed in 1999 for fire safety reasons. The tower is a concrete structure, and its structural engineer was Fritz Leonhardt. It is listed as an architectural heritage monument in North Rhine-Westphalia, and its designation dates to 2022.
About this model
The Colonius is one of more than 4,400 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
