About Dongdaemun Design Plaza
Dongdaemun Design Plaza, known as DDP, is a landmark of urban development in Seoul, South Korea. Zaha Hadid and Samoo designed it, with a neofuturistic look built on curving forms. It is the centerpiece of Dongdaemun, South Korea's fashion hub, and has a walkable park on its roofs, big exhibition spaces, retail stores and restored sections of the Seoul fortress. Work began in 2009; the plaza was officially inaugurated on March 21, 2014. It was among the main reasons Seoul was designated World Design Capital in 2010.
Hadid, a British-Iraqi architect who won the Pritzker Prize in 2004, created the design around a concept called Metonymic Landscape. It won the competition the city of Seoul opened in February 2007. The surfaces undulate like flowing liquid, and a smooth exterior resembles a giant mushroom that floats above ground level, built from concrete, aluminum, steel and stone. A mega-truss system and a space frame system create the grand-scale spaces. Ecological features include solar panels, a water recycling system and a double-skin facade.
The main building is 280 meters long, with three underground levels and four above-ground levels. Public spaces include a conference hall, an exhibition hall, a design lab, the design museum and a design market. The plaza replaced Dongdaemun Stadium, which was demolished in 2007. Dongdaemun History & Culture Park, with an area of 65,232 m2, lies on its east side, and Seoul Subway Lines 2, 4 and 5 reach it through Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 11 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 14 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Smooth curves and fine surface lines
- The long curved roof is smooth, with fine lines running across it. A layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keeps the curves clean, and a larger print size keeps more of the surface lines.
- A thin post under the roof
- A thin post stands under one edge of the roof. Print friendly adapts thin parts like this to the print scale, while Full detail keeps it, which suits a larger print.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Dongdaemun Design Plaza takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
Dongdaemun Design Plaza is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Common questions
Is there a Dongdaemun Design Plaza STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. Dongdaemun Design Plaza grows with the print: about 11 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
