Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. A wide building on its lot

The capitol spreads across its site, so print size does most of the work; a larger print gives the outline more room. Print friendly adapts small parts, and Full detail keeps every modeled feature.

  2. Layers for the roofline

Use 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers so the roof edges and wall corners stay clean at the default size.

  3. One piece with the ground

The Hawaii State Capitol is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Hawaii State Capitol takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Hawaii State Capitol

The Hawaii State Capitol houses Hawaii's government as its official statehouse, in downtown Honolulu. It replaced ʻIolani Palace and opened on March 15, 1969; John A. Burns, the state's second governor, commissioned and dedicated it. State executive and legislative business is carried out from its chambers. The Senate has twenty-five members and the House of Representatives fifty-one, and the governor and lieutenant governor are the main tenants.

Belt, Lemon and Lo of Architects Hawaii Ltd. worked with John Carl Warnecke and Associates on the design, an American adaptation of the Bauhaus known as Hawaiian international architecture. Natural features of the islands shape its symbolism. A pool of water rings the building to stand for the Pacific Ocean, the chambers for the two houses are cones recalling volcanoes, and the perimeter columns copy royal palm trees. On each side, four rows of eight columns represent the eight main islands.

The capitol lets in sun, wind and rain, and its central atrium opens to the sky. On the grounds, four kukui nut trees stand for the four main counties and the four major Hawaiian gods. Otto Piene's chandeliers inside stand for the sun and moon: the Sun one uses gold-plated globes, while the Moon one is built from 620 white chambered nautilus shells.
