About the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion

The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion is a country house in Norwalk, Connecticut, designed in the Second Empire style. Built from 1864 to 1868 for LeGrand Lockwood, a railroad and banking magnate, it has 62 rooms and about 4,100 m2 (44,000 sq ft) of space. Its address is 295 West Ave., within Mathews Park, and it later became a museum.

Detlef Lienau, an architect trained in Europe and based in New York, designed the house, and one account puts it as his most significant surviving work. Herter Brothers and Leon Marcotte were among the prominent New York firms hired for the interiors. It has been called "one of the earliest and finest" examples of its style still standing in the United States.

Lockwood faced financial reversals in 1869 and died in 1872, and his heirs lost the estate to foreclosure in 1874. Charles D. Mathews and his wife Rebecca bought the property in 1876. The City of Norwalk acquired the estate in 1941 and made it a public park. A 1959 plan to replace the mansion with a city hall brought controversy, and preservationists formed a museum organization to run the site. The mansion was declared a National Historic Landmark.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Turrets, chimneys and gables
Small conical turrets, chimneys and many gables crowd the roofline. Print friendly adapts the thinnest ones to the print scale, while Full detail and a larger size keep every turret.
Fine porch and bay details
Round porches and bay windows ring the lower walls. A layer height of 0.12-0.16 mm keeps their curves smoother.
One piece with the ground
The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
