About the M Social Hotel New York Downtown

M Social Hotel New York Downtown is a Lower Manhattan hotel that used to carry the name Millennium Downtown New York. It sits where Fulton Street meets Church Street, on the southeast corner, facing the World Trade Center across Church Street, and it shares its block with 195 Broadway. The building has 55 stories, with 569 guest rooms and 98 suites in all.

AT&T left its headquarters at 195 Broadway in 1984, and the block that included it was sold to Peter Kalikow for $70 million. Kalikow weighed an office building against a hotel before choosing the hotel. Built for $200 million, it opened on June 10, 1992, as The Millenium Hotel, and he deliberately spelled the name with one n on the signage to make it more distinctive. Kalikow soon went bankrupt, and the Singapore-based City Developments Limited bought the hotel in June 1994 for $75 million.

The September 11 attacks caused extensive damage to the hotel. A guest on the 35th floor made amateur video that day that shows how close the destruction was. The hotel was shut for more than 18 months for a complete refurbishment and reopened on May 5, 2003. Hotel workers recovered the U.S. flag that hung outside on that day, and it was put on display in the lobby.

How it prints

Tall, slim tower
The tower is tall for its narrow footprint. Printing slowly and letting each layer cool helps, and layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep its vertical lines crisp.
A fine grid of windows
The facade is covered in a tight grid of window lines. Print friendly adapts it to the print scale; Full detail keeps every line, which suits a larger print or a fine nozzle.
One piece with the ground
The M Social Hotel New York Downtown is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The M Social Hotel New York Downtown takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
