About Mandalay Bay

Mandalay Bay is a resort and casino in Paradise, Nevada, whose 43-story tower stands at the southern end of the Strip. Circus Circus Enterprises developed it where the Hacienda hotel-casino had stood, and it opened on March 2, 1999. Building it cost $950 million. It takes its name from the city of Mandalay in Myanmar. Its tropical South Seas theme runs through a complex of 49 ha (120 acres), with fountains and other water features throughout.

Construction began in 1997. In mid-1998 the soil under the building settled unevenly: the core sank 430 mm (17 inches), while one wing settled only 51 mm (2 inches). The problem was fixed by installing 536 micropiles, metal pipes 200 feet long and filled with grout, beneath the structure. The casino measures 13,748.9 m2 (147,992 sq ft), and the resort has 3,209 rooms. A Four Seasons hotel has its rooms on floors 35 through 39 of the tower and is managed separately. In 1999 it was the first Las Vegas hotel to receive the AAA Five Diamond Award.

In 2003 the resort gained a convention center, a second hotel tower called THEhotel, and the Mandalay Place shopping mall. It also has a House of Blues club, an 1,800-seat theater and the Shark Reef aquatic attraction. Shark Reef, which dates from June 20, 2000, is home to the largest aquarium on the Strip, stocked mostly with sharks. The Mandalay Bay Events Center, a 12,000-seat venue, opened on April 10, 1999.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 1200 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 21 mm 1:7,500
200 mm 26 mm 1:6,000

Tall curved tower facade
The main tower is a tall curved slab with fine window lines up its faces. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep that vertical texture crisp, and Print friendly adapts small facade details to the print scale.
Low wings and small grounds
Low wings and small garden and water features spread out around the base. A larger print size keeps them from blurring, and Full detail keeps every modeled feature if you use a fine nozzle.
One piece with the ground
Mandalay Bay is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Mandalay Bay takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

Mandalay Bay is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Mandalay Bay STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. Mandalay Bay grows with the print: about 21 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
