About the Massalikoul Djinane Mosque

In Dakar, Senegal, stands the Massalikoul Djinane Mosque, known in French as Mosquée Massalikoul Djinane. President Abdoulaye Wade donated the land on which it stands in the early 2000s. The Consortium des Entreprises du Sénégal built it over roughly 15 years, and it opened on September 27, 2019. The construction cost was XOF 20 billion.

The mosque covers more than 10,000 square meters (110,000 sq ft), and it is the largest mosque in West Africa. Up to 10,000 worshipers fit inside the prayer hall, and another 20,000 can be accommodated in its sahn. The mosque has five minarets, each 80 m (260 ft) high, together with four wooden domes that are 28 m (92 ft) tall.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale

200 mm 27 mm 1:3,000

Five slender minarets
Five tall, thin minarets with balconies rise around the domes. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep their tips crisp, and printing slowly helps these tall, thin parts.
Domes and arched windows
A large central dome sits among smaller domes, with rows of arched windows along the walls. Print friendly adapts these small details to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits a larger print.
One piece with the ground
The Massalikoul Djinane Mosque is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Massalikoul Djinane Mosque takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
