About the Royal Castle Warsaw

Warsaw's Royal Castle, a state museum and national historical monument, was once the official residence of several Polish monarchs. It sits on Castle Square, by the entrance to the Old Town, and holds an important collection of Polish and European art. From the 16th century until the last partition of Poland in 1795, the king's own offices and the court's administrative offices were based here.

The castle's origins lie in the 14th century, with the building of its first Castle Tower, and the fortified complex first housed the Masovian dukes. Under the early 17th-century plan, the king, Parliament and the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth were to be seated here instead of at Wawel Castle in Kraków. Giovanni Battista Trevano and Matteo Castelli, as architects, remodeled the medieval Gothic structure into Italian mannerism, and Gaetano Chiaveri's Baroque easternmost wing was completed in 1747. After the partitions of Poland the building was redesigned in a neoclassical style.

In the castle, the Four-Year Parliament drafted the Constitution of May 3, 1791, described as the first of its kind in Europe and as the second-oldest codified national constitution in the world. Under the Second Polish Republic the castle was the seat of the head of state. The building was completely destroyed during the Second World War. Reconstruction ran from 1971 to 1984, and the castle returned to its 17th-century look. UNESCO added the castle and the surrounding Old Town to its World Heritage list in 1980.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 21 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 26 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 34 mm 1:2,344

A tall tower and small turrets
A tall tower and several small corner turrets with domed caps rise above the roofs. Print slowly with good cooling for the thin tips, and layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep them crisp.
Dormers on steep roofs
Many tiny dormers dot the steep roofs. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print.
One piece with the ground
The Royal Castle Warsaw is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Royal Castle Warsaw takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
