About The Newark Museum of Art

The Newark Museum of Art, formerly the Newark Museum, is the largest museum in the state of New Jersey. Librarian and reformer John Cotton Dana founded it in 1909. Its first home was the Newark Public Library, on the fourth floor, and in the 1920s it moved into a purpose-built structure on Washington Park, after a gift from Louis Bamberger. Jarvis Hunt was the architect, and his other work includes Bamberger's flagship Newark store. The museum took its present name on November 6, 2019.

American art, decorative art and contemporary art are strengths of its collections, alongside the arts of the ancient world, the Americas, Africa and Asia. Its Tibetan art galleries are said to be among the world's best. The museum has also grown outward: to the south it took in a former YMCA of red brick, to the north the Ballantine House of 1885, and in 1990 it added an acquired building to the west, with much of the museum redesigned by Michael Graves at that time.

Science is part of the mission too, through the Victoria Hall of Science and the Dreyfuss Planetarium. Behind the building, the Alice Ransom Dreyfuss Memorial Garden holds contemporary sculpture, and community programs, concerts and shows take place there. The garden is also home to a stone schoolhouse from 1784 and the Newark Fire Museum.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale

Arched front windows
The front block has tall arched windows and a small entrance porch. "Print friendly" adapts these shallow details to the print scale; "Full detail" keeps them, which suits a larger print.
Long wing and low roofs
A long wing runs behind the main block, with flat roofs and small roof boxes. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm keeps the roof edges clean, and this low, wide model prints easily at larger sizes.
One piece with the ground
The Newark Museum of Art is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Newark Museum of Art takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
