About the Torre Latinoamericana
The Torre Latinoamericana, called the Latin American Tower in English, is a downtown Mexico City skyscraper, 166 m (545 ft) tall. Because of its central location, its height and its history, it is ranked among the most important landmarks in the city. The tower opened on April 30, 1956. It held the title of Mexico's tallest completed building from 1956 to 1982, the year the 214 m (702 ft) Torre Ejecutiva Pemex was finished. At completion it also stood as Latin America's tallest building, and fourth tallest in the world outside New York.
The tower was built for the insurance company La Latinoamericana, Seguros, S.A., which was founded on April 30, 1906, and it took its name from that firm. The company moved into the 4th to 8th floors in 1956, and the rest of the office space was leased out. The site had earlier held a private zoo maintained by Moctezuma II, and the Convent of San Francisco was later built there, after the Spanish conquest.
The brothers Leonardo Zeevaert and Adolfo Zeevaert, both civil engineers born in Veracruz, designed and executed the project, with Nathan M. Newmark as main consultant. The design combines a steel frame with deep-seated piles, which suited the city's frequent earthquakes and its muddy soil. The tower withstood the magnitude 7.9 earthquake of 1957. It also came through the magnitude 8.1 earthquake of 1985 without damage, while several other buildings downtown were damaged.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 50 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 62 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Thin spire on the crown
- A narrow spire tops the stepped crown. Print friendly adapts it to the print scale; if you keep Full detail, print slowly with good cooling, and use layers of 0.12–0.16 mm for a crisp tip.
- Window grid up the shaft
- A fine pattern of small window marks runs up the long, slim shaft. A larger print size keeps it distinct, and thin layers keep the stepped setbacks sharp.
- One piece with the ground
- The Torre Latinoamericana is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Torre Latinoamericana takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
The Torre Latinoamericana is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Torre Latinoamericana STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. The Torre Latinoamericana grows with the print: about 50 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
