About the Turkish House

Turkevi Center, another name for the Turkish House, is a skyscraper of 561 feet (171 m) at 821 United Nations Plaza, along First Avenue in Turtle Bay, Manhattan, facing the United Nations headquarters. Several diplomatic missions of Turkey in New York City have their headquarters there, and it also acts as a center for Turkish culture.

Perkins Eastman designed the building, which has roughly 20,000 m2 (220,000 square feet) of usable space. Turkey's mission to the United Nations and its consulate general in New York City take 17,000 m2 (180,000 square feet) of it, and the remainder is residential. Its curved facade alludes to the crescent on the Turkish flag, and its top is shaped like a tulip, Turkey's national flower.

Inside, an auditorium and floors of offices serve the mission and the consulate. There are outdoor terraces on floors 5, 11 and 16, plus meeting rooms, exhibition space and a prayer room. Apartments start on the 20th floor. In 2012, the Turkish government hired Cresa Partners to demolish two buildings on the site, and construction began in September 2017.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale

200 mm 58 mm 1:3,000

A very slim, curved shaft
The tower is thin for its height, with a curved face and a sloped, open top. Print slowly with layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm, and use a larger print size so the top keeps its shape.
One piece with the ground
The Turkish House is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Turkish House takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

The Turkish House is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Turkish House STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. The Turkish House grows with the print: about 46 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
