About Two United Nations Plaza
In Turtle Bay, Manhattan, Two United Nations Plaza combines offices and a hotel. Kevin Roche and John Dinkeloo designed it for the United Nations. It faces the UN headquarters over First Avenue, along 44th Street's north side, and sits to the west of One UN Plaza. The building opened in 1983 and has 40 stories.
Public outcry and a lack of funding meant the office and hotel complex was built in stages, and the large-scale plans were put aside during a recession and amid community opposition around 1970. One UN Plaza came first, and Two UN Plaza followed in 1983. Design and construction ran from 1979 to 1983, and the building was called the second phase of the United Nations Development Corporation's plan to expand the UN enclave.
Roche-Dinkeloo's design mirrors One UN Plaza. It is a slab 505 feet tall, and that is three feet less than the UN Secretariat, following the district's zoning limits. Among the main tenants of the development corporation's buildings are the United Nations itself and its Development Programme, along with other missions.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

- Slanted top corners
- The top corners of the slab are cut at an angle. Printing slowly with 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers keeps those edges sharp.
- Fine window grid
- A tight grid of window lines covers the sides. A larger print size keeps the lines from merging, and Full detail keeps them all.
- One piece with the ground
- Two United Nations Plaza is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Two United Nations Plaza takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
