About the Yokohama Landmark Tower

The Yokohama Landmark Tower rises in Yokohama's Minato Mirai 21 district, beside the Yokohama Museum of Art, in Japan. It is 296.3 m (972 ft) high, and it was the tallest building in Japan until Abeno Harukas surpassed it in 2014. Mitsubishi Estate's architecture and engineering division, which later became Mitsubishi Jisho Sekkei, designed it with Hugh Stubbins and Associates (later called KlingStubbins).

Shops fill floors 1 to 4, the clinics are on the 7th floor, and offices occupy floors 8 to 48. The Sky Garden observation deck on the 69th floor is at the 273 m point. Two tuned mass dampers sit at opposite corners of the building, on its hidden 71st floor. When the tower's Mitsubishi Electric elevators were inaugurated, they were the world's fastest, reaching 12.5 meters per second (41 feet per second) and taking about 40 seconds to get to the 69th floor. Elevators at Taipei 101 passed that speed record in 2004.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 79 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 99 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 127 mm 1:2,344

Open-frame crown at the top
The top of the tower is an open frame of thin bars. Print friendly adapts these thin parts to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits a larger print.
Very tall, slim shape
The tower is tall and slim, with fine window lines up its walls. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep them crisp, and printing slowly with cooling helps a tall, thin shape like this one.
One piece with the ground
The Yokohama Landmark Tower is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Yokohama Landmark Tower takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

The Yokohama Landmark Tower is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Yokohama Landmark Tower STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. The Yokohama Landmark Tower grows with the print: about 79 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
