About 30 Rockefeller Plaza
The official name of 30 Rockefeller Plaza is the Comcast Building, and it was formerly the RCA Building and the GE Building. It is a skyscraper at the center of Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It was completed in 1933. Raymond Hood, the lead architect of Rockefeller Center, designed it in an Art Deco style, and it has 66 stories. At its opening it ranked third among the world's tallest buildings, and no structure in Rockefeller Center is taller.
The building is made up of three parts: a windowless middle section sits between a 66-story tower on the east side and a 16-story annex on the west. Its shape follows the 1916 Zoning Resolution. It is mostly a slab, with setbacks included largely for aesthetic reasons. Limestone covers the facade, with granite at the base, and around 6,000 windows are separated by aluminum spandrels. It rises to a flat roof, unlike 40 Wall Street, 70 Pine Street and the Chrysler Building, which used spires to reach their top height.
NBC, the television network, has its headquarters and New York studios inside, and the headquarters is sometimes known as 30 Rock. That nickname inspired the sitcom of the same name. Inside are the Rainbow Room restaurant and Top of the Rock, an observation deck. Rockefeller Center as a whole has been designated a city landmark by New York and is also a National Historic Landmark.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 72 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 90 mm | 1:3,000 |
| 256 mm | 115 mm | 1:2,344 |

- Stepped setbacks on the tower
- The upper tower steps back in several tiers. Print friendly adapts these small steps to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits a larger print. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the edges crisp.
- Fine vertical ribs
- Thin vertical ribs run up the tower walls. A bigger print size keeps more of them, and a slower print speed helps a tall, narrow tower stay clean.
- One piece with the ground
- 30 Rockefeller Plaza is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 30 Rockefeller Plaza takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
