About 5 Times Square

Standing 575 feet (175 m) tall, 5 Times Square is a skyscraper of 38 stories, mostly offices, in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It occupies the south end of Times Square, along the west side of Seventh Avenue from 41st to 42nd Street. Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) designed it, and Boston Properties developed it for Ernst & Young (EY).

KPF's plan gave the building a glass curtain wall facade, with large billboards on the lower stories, tied to the 42nd Street Development Project. The steel superstructure has lattice beams to resist wind, plus a mechanical core. The building holds 1.1 million square feet of floor space, much of it offices, and retail space and a subway entrance occupy the bottom three stories. Work began in 1999 after EY signed on as anchor tenant, leasing the whole building for 20 years, and the tower opened in 2002.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Notched crown and shallow ribs
The top steps back in a notch, and shallow ribs run down the faces. Print friendly keeps the shapes sturdy; Full detail keeps every rib, which suits a larger print.
One piece with the ground
5 Times Square is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 5 Times Square takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

Common questions

Is there a 5 Times Square STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. 5 Times Square grows with the print: about 47 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
