About Albi Cathedral

Albi Cathedral, formally the Cathedral of Saint Cecilia, stands in France and serves as the seat of Albi's Catholic archbishop. Building began in 1282 and went on for 200 years, and the cathedral was consecrated on April 23, 1480. Its exterior looks like a fortress, yet the interior is richly decorated with art and sculpture, and has bright blue and gold walls and an ornate choir screen. The style is Toulousian, or Southern French, Gothic.

Bernard de Castanet became Bishop of Albi in 1276 and was the key figure behind the Gothic cathedral. He used brick rather than stone, which was easier work, and raised money by reserving one-twentieth of the chapter's revenue and offering parishioners spiritual incentives for giving a tenth of their income. The fortress-like look followed from the fight against the Cathars. The cathedral is claimed to be the world's largest brick building.

The bell tower, 78 meters high, was completed in 1492. The late 15th century also brought a huge Last Judgement mural, fifteen meters tall and eighteen meters across, on the inside of the west facade, though a central portion was later destroyed. In 2010 the cathedral and its episcopal buildings were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for their unique architecture and consistent design.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 22 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 28 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 36 mm 1:2,344

Open tower top and pinnacles
The bell tower has open windows near its top, and small pointed pinnacles stand along the walls. Print slowly with good cooling, and use Print friendly to adapt thin parts to the print scale.
Closely spaced buttresses
Many narrow buttresses run along the long walls. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep them crisp, and a larger print size keeps the gaps between them open.
One piece with the ground
Albi Cathedral is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Albi Cathedral takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

Albi Cathedral is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there an Albi Cathedral STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. Albi Cathedral grows with the print: about 22 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
