About Atlantis The Palm

In the United Arab Emirates, Atlantis, The Palm, a luxury hotel resort, sits at the apex of Dubai's Palm Jumeirah, and it was the first resort built on the island. Its theme is the myth of Atlantis, with distinct Arabian elements. The nautically themed resort has 1,544 rooms in two accommodation wings, the East Tower and the West Tower. Istithmar World and Kerzner International Holdings Limited opened it as a joint venture, on September 24, 2008.

Northpoint of South Africa produced the conceptual design, and WATG (Wimberly, Allison, Tong and Goo) served as architect of record. The principal construction contract went to Laing O'Rourke, which is a multinational construction company from the United Kingdom. Days before the opening ceremony, the grand lobby caught fire. The damage was repaired, and the hotel opened on time.

The Lost Chambers Aquarium, which holds more than 65,000 marine animals, and the Aquaventure water park complement the hotel. The Poseidon and Neptune Underwater Suites count among only a few underwater hotel rooms in the world. The suites measure 165 m² (1,780 sq ft) in total, with the entrance floor at ground level and a submerged master bedroom and en-suite bathroom facing the resort's Ambassador Lagoon.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 650 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 25 mm 1:4,063
200 mm 31 mm 1:3,250
256 mm 40 mm 1:2,539

  • Atlantis The Palm model, East view East
  • Atlantis The Palm model, South view South
  • Atlantis The Palm model, West view West
A wide arch across the middle
A tall pointed arch opens through the center of the long hotel block. A larger print size keeps the arch and its edge detail, and layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the curve smooth.
Small conical roof turrets
Small conical roofs sit along the rooftop and at the wing ends. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print or with a fine nozzle.
One piece with the ground
Atlantis The Palm is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Atlantis The Palm takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

Atlantis The Palm is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there an Atlantis The Palm STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. Atlantis The Palm grows with the print: about 25 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
