About the Brooklyn Tower

Downtown Brooklyn, in New York City, is home to the Brooklyn Tower, a supertall skyscraper that mixes uses but is mostly residential. Earlier it went by the address 9 DeKalb Avenue (and, separately, 340 Flatbush Avenue Extension), and it is also listed as 85 Fleet Street. JDS Development Group developed it on DeKalb Avenue's north side, close to Flatbush Avenue.

The tower proper has 74 stories and stands 315 meters (1,035 feet). SHoP Architects designed it, and construction ran from 2018 to 2022. It is Brooklyn's first supertall and the borough's tallest building, and no taller building exists in New York City outside Manhattan. Mowbray and Uffinger designed the Dime Savings Bank Building, preserved at the tower's foot; it dates from the 1900s and is a designated New York City landmark.

The bank's marble facade is white, with colonnades; it also has a domed roof and a diagonal entrance portico facing Albee Square. Inside, a hexagonal rotunda is used for retail. Starting in 2018, the tower was built as an annex to the bank, and its superstructure topped out in October 2021. The tower section offers about 150 condominiums and 425 rentals.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 87 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 109 mm 1:3,000

A slim, finned crown
The very tall, narrow shaft ends in a crown of thin vertical fins. Print slowly with good cooling and 0.12–0.16 mm layers; Full detail keeps the fins on larger prints, while Print friendly adapts them on small ones.
Domed bank at the base
The low domed building at the foot carries curved roof detail. Finer layers keep the dome smooth, and a larger print size keeps its small features.
One piece with the ground
The Brooklyn Tower is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Brooklyn Tower takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

The Brooklyn Tower is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Brooklyn Tower STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. The Brooklyn Tower grows with the print: about 87 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
