About the Cairo Tower
The Cairo Tower is a free-standing tower built of concrete, in Cairo, Egypt. It stands in the Gezira district of Gezira Island in the River Nile, near downtown Cairo. Standing 187 m (614 ft) high, it was Egypt's tallest structure for 37 years, until 1998. It was also North Africa's tallest structure for 21 years, until 1982, and Africa's tallest for a single year, until 1962. Some regard it as Egypt's second most famous landmark, behind only the Pyramids of Giza.
Between 1956 and 1961 the tower went up to a design by Egyptian architect Naoum Shebib, who drew on ancient Egyptian architecture. The design is a partially open lattice, meant to suggest a pharaonic lotus plant, a symbol of Ancient Egypt. At the top are a round observation deck and a restaurant that revolves.
The Egyptian Arab Contractors Company restored the tower between 2006 and 2009. The work included treating and restoring the concrete, adding metal-structure floors at the base of the tower and one more floor above the entrance, building an emergency stairway and a visitor elevator, and installing new LED lighting to improve efficiency.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 50 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 63 mm | 1:3,000 |
| 256 mm | 81 mm | 1:2,344 |

- A lattice around the shaft
- A diagonal lattice wraps the slender shaft. Print friendly adapts the open lattice to the print scale; Full detail keeps every strand, which suits a larger print or a fine nozzle.
- Thin spire on the top
- A narrow spire rises above the round deck. Printing slowly helps a tall, thin tip, and layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep it crisp.
- One piece with the ground
- The Cairo Tower is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Cairo Tower takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
The Cairo Tower is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Cairo Tower STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. The Cairo Tower grows with the print: about 50 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
