About Central Plaza

The skyscraper called Central Plaza stands on Hong Kong Island, in Wan Chai at 18 Harbour Road, with 78 stories and a height of 374 m (1,227 ft). Finished in August 1992, it held the title of tallest building in Asia until 1996. It also led the world among reinforced concrete buildings until CITIC Plaza in Guangzhou overtook it in 1996.

A triangular plan was chosen because, compared with square or rectangular buildings, 20% more of the office area gets a view of the harbor. The three corners are truncated, so the shape is not a true triangle; this gives the offices inside better space. Its site was reclaimed from Victoria Harbour during the 1970s.

Crowning the tower is a neon clock with four bars, which shows the time by changing color across each 15-minute period. A mast 102 m (335 ft) tall rises above, with an anemometer at its tip. Inside the building is Sky City Church, the highest church within a skyscraper anywhere. Ng Chun Man and Associates, now DLN, designed it, and Arup engineered it.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 106 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 132 mm 1:3,000

Slender mast on top
A thin mast rises from the pyramid-shaped crown. Print friendly thickens it for the print scale; Full detail keeps it slim, so print slowly and let each layer cool.
Tall, narrow tower
The tower is tall for its footprint. A larger print size and 0.12-0.16 mm layers keep the floor lines crisp.
One piece with the ground
Central Plaza is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Central Plaza takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

Central Plaza is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Central Plaza STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. Central Plaza grows with the print: about 106 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
