About Corvin Castle
Corvin Castle, also called Hunyadi Castle or Hunedoara Castle, is a castle in Hunedoara, Romania, built in a Gothic-Renaissance style. It is regarded as one of the biggest castles in Europe, and it is counted among the Seven Wonders of Romania. It sits on rock overlooking the Zlaști River, on the site of an earlier fortification. It has tall towers, bastions, an inner courtyard, roofs in many colors, and windows and balconies decorated with carved stone.
Construction began in 1446 by order of John Hunyadi, Voivode of Transylvania, who wanted to transform the earlier keep that Charles I of Hungary had built. Hunyadi's father, Woyk, had been given the castle by Sigismund of Luxembourg in 1409. After Hunyadi died in 1456, work on the castle stagnated. New commissions for the Matia Wing began in 1458, and work stopped completely in 1480, by which time the castle was seen as among the biggest, most impressive buildings of Eastern Europe. In the 17th century a large new palace facing the town was added, along with two towers, the Artillery Tower and the White Tower.
Its three main areas are the Diet Hall, the Knight's Hall and a circular stairway. The halls are rectangular and decorated with marble. The Diet Hall hosted ceremonies and formal receptions, and the Knight's Hall hosted feasts. A double wall strengthens the defenses, and both rectangular and circular towers flank the castle, which was an innovation in Transylvanian architecture of the period. Some of the towers served as prisons, while the Buzdugan Tower was built only for defense. The castle owes its form to a restoration campaign that followed a serious fire and many decades of neglect.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 18 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 23 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Steep, pointed tower roofs
- Several towers end in tall, sharp roofs. Printing slowly and using layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm helps keep the tips crisp, and Print friendly adapts thin points to the print scale.
- A long row of arches
- A long arcade of slim piers runs out from one side of the castle. A bigger print size keeps the arches readable, and Full detail keeps every pier.
- One piece with the ground
- Corvin Castle is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Corvin Castle takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
Corvin Castle is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Corvin Castle STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. Corvin Castle grows with the print: about 18 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
