About the Palace of Culture (Iași)

The Palace of Culture, called Palatul Culturii in Romanian, is a large building in Iași, Romania. Until 1955 it was the Administrative and Justice Palace; then it took on a cultural function and was assigned to four museums. Those museums form the Moldavia National Museum Complex, and the building also serves as a venue for various exhibitions and other events. The National Register of Historic Monuments includes it.

It began as a plan to rebuild and expand the former Princely Palace of Moldavia, whose foundations and first two floors it kept. The legend of 365 rooms, one for each day of the year, comes from that earlier palace. The Romanian architect I.D. Berindei chose a flamboyant Neo-Gothic style, unlike the neoclassical old palace. Work began in 1906–1907 and stopped during World War I, and the building was completed on October 11, 1925. King Ferdinand I of Romania inaugurated it a year later.

The entrance lies at the foot of a great donjon tower decorated with crenels and alcoves, with an eagle with open wings above. Each of the three exposed sides carries a clock face 3.25 m (11 ft) across, decorated with stained glass of the 12 astrological signs. The tower's carillon of 8 bells plays the song "Hora Unirii" each hour. Inside, the palace has 298 large rooms, and a large-scale restoration project that began in 2008 saw its main works completed in April 2016.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Spirelets on the clock tower
The clock tower is crowned with slim spirelets and pinnacles. Print slowly with good cooling, and use Print friendly to adapt them to the print scale or Full detail on a larger print.
Busy gabled roofs
Steep gables, dormers and small finials crowd the roofline. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep them crisp, and a bigger print size gives each one more room.
One piece with the ground
The Palace of Culture (Iași) is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Palace of Culture (Iași) takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
