Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. A tall tower on a small base

The building rises a long way above its footprint, so the model is narrow at the bottom. Print it at a good size and print tall parts slowly, letting each layer cool before the next one goes down.

  2. Tower against the city block

The tower stands in a tight block of surrounding buildings, which take up much of the model's plan. Print larger, or choose Full detail, so the tower still reads clearly against them.

  3. One piece with the ground

The HSBC Building (Hong Kong) is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The HSBC Building (Hong Kong) takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the HSBC Building (Hong Kong)

The HSBC Main Building in Hong Kong is the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation's headquarters; that bank is owned in full by HSBC Holdings, which is based in London. It occupies the southern side of Statue Square, at 1 Queen's Road Central, close to where the old City Hall stood. The bank has rebuilt its offices here more than once: the previous headquarters went up in 1935 and was pulled down to clear the way for the present one.

Norman Foster designed the building with the engineers Ove Arup & Partners, and construction ran from 1981 to 1985. It is a steel suspended structure without an internal supporting frame: four aluminium-clad steel columns rise in eight groups that climb from the foundations through the core, and five levels of triangular trusses hang on them. Five steel modules were prefabricated in the UK and shipped out to Hong Kong, and the frame used about 30,000 tons of steel, plus 4,500 tons of aluminium.

The building rises 178.8 meters over 47 storeys and four basement levels, and when it was finished it was the world's most expensive building, at roughly HK$5.2 billion. Lifts stop only every few floors, at atrium levels that group floors by function, and escalators link those levels, a layout meant to encourage talk between floors instead of keeping each one shut off.
