About the International Building

Also known as 45 Rockefeller Plaza and 630 Fifth Avenue, the International Building is a 41-story skyscraper at Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan. Rockefeller Center's lead architect, Raymond Hood, designed it in the Art Deco style, and it was completed in 1935 at a height of 512 ft (156 m). Its main tower sits back from Fifth Avenue, and two 6-story wings on the east side flank an entrance plaza with Lee Lawrie's Atlas statue.

Limestone clads the facade, with granite at the base. The two wings take their pattern from a pair of buildings to the south, one of them La Maison Francaise, and have rooftop gardens. From Fifth Avenue, the main entrance opens onto a lobby four stories high with large marble pillars and escalators, and no office is farther than 27 ft (8.2 m) from a window.

The building came out of the Rockefeller Center construction, and its plans changed several times. A groundbreaking ceremony was held in July 1933, and the superstructure rose in 136 days between September 1934 and May 1935. Foreign consulates numbered among its many tenants over the years. The whole Rockefeller Center complex holds New York City landmark status and National Historic Landmark status.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 42 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 53 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 67 mm 1:2,344

Fine ribs on a tall slab
Thin vertical ribs run up the tower's faces. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits a larger print and 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers.
One piece with the ground
The International Building is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The International Building takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

The International Building is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there an International Building STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. The International Building grows with the print: about 42 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
