About 919 Third Avenue
The office tower at 919 Third Avenue stands in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, where Third Avenue meets East 55th Street. Skidmore, Owings and Merrill designed it, and it rises 615 feet (187 meters) with 47 floors. In the mid-1960s, its developers chose to build around the Third Avenue bar and restaurant P. J. Clarke's, whose property owner at the time had refused to sell. The New York Times labeled the arrangement among Manhattan's most unusual real estate deals.
In December 1970, a fire on the fifth floor destroyed part of that floor, injuring 20 people and killing three. The building was occupied mainly by carpet manufacturers and wholesalers, and fire partitions and unbroken horizontal separations largely confined the blaze. Property damage was estimated at $2.5 million. Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom had its New York offices here until 1999, and Debevoise & Plimpton until 2023. Other occupants have included Bloomberg L.P., Bloomingdale's, Jenner & Block and Schulte Roth & Zabel. In July 1996, a gust of wind blew the scaffold of two repairmen through a window, and both nearly lost their lives.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |

- A tall, plain tower
- The tower is a tall boxy shape, so printing slowly with good cooling helps it stay clean. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the fine vertical lines on its walls crisp.
- Small rooftop details
- The flat roof carries a few small rooftop parts. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale, while Full detail keeps them on larger prints or with a fine nozzle.
- One piece with the ground
- 919 Third Avenue is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 919 Third Avenue takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
