About One Liberty Plaza

One Liberty Plaza, an office skyscraper once called the U.S. Steel Building, rises in New York City's Financial District, in Lower Manhattan. It fills a block whose edges are Broadway and Church, Liberty and Cortlandt Streets. The block was once home to the Singer Building, which was briefly the world's tallest building in 1908 and 1909, and to the City Investing Building next to it. Both came down between 1967 and 1968 to make room for the new tower.

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill designed the tower in the International Style, and it was completed in 1973. It stands 226 m (743 ft) tall and has 54 floors. Its black facade is made up of a structural steel frame. Each floor holds nearly 1 acre (0.40 ha) for offices, and the total of 210,000 m2 (2.3 million sq ft) places it among New York's largest office buildings by usable interior area. Its interior area is over double that of the two earlier buildings put together.

U.S. Steel originally commissioned the building. In 1972 Merrill Lynch moved in as an anchor tenant, taking 40 floors, and the tower also housed that company's headquarters. A major renovation in 1989 added a new lobby and elevator system, and the basement connects to the Fulton Street/Fulton Center subway station. Zuccotti Park lies to the south; it used to be known as Liberty Plaza Park.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 61 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 76 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 97 mm 1:2,344

Ribbed facade and roof details
The tower's sides are lined with fine vertical ribs, and the roof carries a small equipment block. Print friendly adapts these details to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, best on a larger print.
Tight gaps between towers
Neighboring skyscrapers rise close on every side. A larger print size keeps the narrow gaps between buildings open, and layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep the tall walls crisp.
One piece with the ground
One Liberty Plaza is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. One Liberty Plaza takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

Common questions

Is there a One Liberty Plaza STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. One Liberty Plaza grows with the print: about 61 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
