About Sutton Tower

In the Sutton Place neighborhood of Manhattan's Midtown East stands Sutton 58, a residential skyscraper also called 3 Sutton Place. Thomas Juul-Hansen designed it, and it measures 258 meters (847 ft) tall. Its story count is given as either 62 or 65. Buildable space on the site comes to 260,000 square feet, equivalent to 24,000 m2.

Its stone-and-glass facade has five bays of windows on the north and south sides and three on the west and east sides. The superstructure is reinforced concrete, and a two-level, five-bedroom penthouse sits at the top. On the east side, the tower projects about 10 feet (3.0 m) out over 434 East 58th Street, a neighboring building.

In 2015 The Bauhouse Group acquired three adjacent low-rise buildings and air rights for a luxury tower, which was to be designed by Foster and Partners at about 1,000 feet (300 m). Community members and politicians sought a rezoning limiting heights to 260 feet, or 79 m, in the area. Gamma Real Estate bought the site at an auction. Work climbed past street level in June 2019, the skyscraper topped out in August 2020, and the building was completed in 2022.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Very slender tower
This is a very tall, slim tower, so print it slowly with good cooling. Print friendly adapts the crown and facade ribs to the print scale; Full detail keeps them at larger sizes and a finer layer height.
One piece with the ground
Sutton Tower is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Sutton Tower takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

Sutton Tower is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Sutton Tower STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. Sutton Tower grows with the print: about 69 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
