About the The El Dorado
The El Dorado, a cooperative apartment building, stands next to Central Park, with the address 300 Central Park West, on the block from 90th to 91st Street in Manhattan's Upper West Side. It was built from 1929 to 1931 in the Art Deco style. Margon & Holder were the architect of record and Emery Roth the consulting architect. Twin towers of 12 stories rise from the eastern part of a 17-story base, each topped with sculpted finials.
Cast stone covers the lowest three stories on Central Park West, where the main entrance is formed by three angular bronze archways. Tan and brown bricks above are arranged to stress the vertical lines of the facade, and some upper apartments have angular stone balconies. On opening it held 200 apartments with 1,500 rooms in all, and its lobby is finished in marble.
The current building replaced a pair of apartment buildings from 1902, also known as the El Dorado. Developer Louis Klosk began the present one but could not finish it once the Wall Street Crash of 1929 struck, and the Central Park Plaza Corporation bought it at a foreclosure auction in 1931. In July 1982 it turned into a housing cooperative. The city has designated it a landmark, and it is part of the Central Park West Historic District as a contributing property.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |

- Crowned twin towers
- Each tower ends in a stepped, finial-topped crown. Printing slowly with 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers keeps the fine tops crisp.
- Vertical piers and setbacks
- Tall vertical lines and small setbacks wrap the base. A larger print size keeps them distinct; Print friendly thickens the thinnest ones at small sizes.
- One piece with the ground
- The The El Dorado is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The The El Dorado takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
The The El Dorado is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a The El Dorado STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. The The El Dorado grows with the print: about 29 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
